Trezor Wallet Setup at trezor.io/start®

Step 1: Go to trezor.io/start®

The first step in setting up your Trezor wallet is to visit the official trezor.io/start® page. This page is where you will begin the process of initializing your device. It is important to ensure you are on the official Trezor website to avoid phishing scams.

Step 2: Choose Your Device

Once you’re on the setup page, the first thing you’ll see is a prompt asking you to select your device. Depending on which Trezor model you have purchased (Trezor One or Trezor Model T), choose the correct option.

  • Trezor One: The classic model, ideal for first-time users and those who need a basic hardware wallet.
  • Trezor Model T: A more advanced model with a touch screen and additional security features.

Step 3: Install Trezor Bridge or Trezor Suite

To begin the actual setup process, you will need to install Trezor Bridge or Trezor Suite, both of which are essential software tools for managing your Trezor device. The software enables communication between your computer and the hardware wallet.

  1. Trezor Bridge: A lightweight software that helps establish a connection between your computer and the Trezor device.
  2. Trezor Suite: A more comprehensive desktop application that allows you to manage your cryptocurrencies, view your portfolio, and more.

Step 4: Initialize Your Device

Once the software is installed, plug in your Trezor device via USB. The device will prompt you to set a PIN code. It’s important to choose a secure PIN to ensure that your wallet remains protected.

Tip: Avoid using easily guessable PINs, such as “1234” or “0000”. A strong PIN should be a random combination of numbers that are hard for anyone to guess.

Step 5: Write Down Your Recovery Seed

After setting up your PIN, Trezor will generate a recovery seed, which is a series of 12 or 24 words. This recovery seed is crucial for restoring access to your wallet in case your device is lost or damaged. Write it down on paper and store it in a secure place, separate from your device.

Important: Never store your recovery seed online or in a digital format, as it could be hacked or exposed.

Step 6: Confirm Your Recovery Seed

For added security, Trezor will ask you to confirm the recovery seed. You will be prompted to enter specific words from your recovery seed to verify that you have written it down correctly.
